Модули аналогового ввода-вывода используются для подключения к системе управления датчиков и исполнительных устройств и обеспечивают ее сопряжение с уровнем процесса. Модули аналогового ввода осуществляют преобразование аналоговых сигналов, поступающих от датчиков и других источников, в цифровую форму и передают их по системной шине в модуль ЦПУ или интерфейсный модуль. Модули аналогового вывода преобразуют цифровые данные, поступающие в них по системной шине, в непрерывные электрические сигналы управления исполнительными устройствами.
